Volunteer Car or Van Driver
Help move leaflets, donations and equipment across Calderdale, with flexible hours and HMRC mileage reimbursement.
Our Volunteer Drivers provide essential practical support by helping us move materials, donations and equipment between our Halifax base, community venues, events and peer support hubs across Calderdale.
This is a varied and flexible role. One day you may be delivering information leaflets to local pharmacies, GP surgeries and community buildings; another day you may be taking donated refreshments to one of our hubs or collecting equipment for an event.
The role may include:
- Delivering leaflets and promotional materials across Calderdale
- Checking that community venues have sufficient supplies of our service information
- Collecting donated biscuits, refreshments and other items from local businesses
- Delivering supplies to hubs, activity groups or facilitators' homes
- Collecting and delivering equipment and materials for community events
- Providing general transport and logistical support when required
- Keeping simple records of deliveries and mileage
As this role involves travelling between different locations, volunteers must:
- Have access to their own suitable car or van
- Hold a full, valid driving licence
- Have appropriate vehicle insurance for volunteer driving
- Ensure their vehicle is roadworthy, taxed and has a valid MOT
- Be reliable, organised and comfortable planning journeys
- Be able to safely lift and carry light boxes, refreshments and event materials
- Communicate confidently with our team and community contacts
- Respect confidentiality when visiting hubs or volunteers' homes
This is a part-time volunteer role that can be arranged around your availability and the needs of the charity. Mileage expenses will be reimbursed at the approved HMRC mileage rate, so you will not be expected to cover the cost of travelling on behalf of Unmasked Mental Health.
