Sometimes life can feel overwhelming. You might be struggling with anxiety, low mood, stress, grief, relationships, work, family life or simply feeling like things have become too much to manage on your own. You don't always need to have the answers. Sometimes, having a safe space to talk to someone who will listen without judgement can be the first step towards feeling more able to cope. At Unmasked Mental Health, our counselling service provides confidential, one-to-one support for adults experiencing difficulties with their mental health. Our experienced counsellors offer a safe and supportive environment where you can talk openly about what you're going through and explore what may help. What Is Counselling? Counselling provides you with the opportunity to talk through your thoughts, feelings and experiences with a trained professional in a confidential and supportive environment. You don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about before your first session. You may simply know that something doesn't feel right. Perhaps you've been feeling overwhelmed, struggling with your emotions or finding everyday life more difficult than usual. Counselling can give you dedicated time to focus on yourself and explore what's happening in your life at your own pace. How Can Counselling Help? Everyone's experience of counselling is different, because everyone's circumstances are different. You may seek counselling because you're experiencing: * Anxiety or persistent worry * Low mood * Stress or burnout * Grief or bereavement * Relationship difficulties * Problems at work * Low confidence or self-esteem * Difficult life experiences * Changes or challenges within your personal life * Feelings of being overwhelmed or unable to cope Counselling isn't about someone telling you what to do. Instead, it can provide a space to explore your thoughts and feelings, understand yourself better and consider possible ways forward. Counselling at Unmasked Mental Health Our aim at Unmasked Mental Health is to provide support at the point of need and in a way that works for the individual. Our counselling service is designed to be accessible, compassionate and person-centred, recognising that there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to mental health. We want people to feel comfortable, respected and listened to from the moment they reach out. Affordable Counselling We believe that financial circumstances shouldn't be a barrier to accessing mental health support. Our low-cost counselling sessions are currently £30 per session, making them significantly more affordable than many private counselling services. Unmasked Mental Health also operates a Counselling Hardship Fund, which can help people on low incomes access counselling free of charge. This is an important part of our commitment to making professional mental health support accessible to the people who need it. Support Without Long Waiting Lists When you're struggling with your mental health, waiting months for support can feel incredibly difficult. Unmasked Mental Health's counselling service operates on an at-the-point-of-need model, helping people access support when they need it rather than being placed on a lengthy waiting list. What Happens When You Access Counselling? Taking that first step can sometimes feel daunting. You may worry about what you'll be asked, what you'll need to talk about or whether counselling will be right for you. You don't need to worry about having the 'right' things to say. Our team can help you understand the process and explore what type of support may be appropriate for you. Unmasked Mental Health currently provides a self-referral route for people looking to access counselling, and the team aims to respond to self-referrals within three working days. Your privacy and wellbeing are important to us, and our counselling service operates within our safeguarding and confidentiality procedures. You Don't Have to Wait Until You're at Breaking Point One of the biggest misconceptions about counselling is that you need to be experiencing a mental health crisis before you can ask for help. That's not the case. You don't have to wait until everything feels unbearable. You can reach out because you're struggling to cope, because something has changed in your life, because you're feeling overwhelmed or simply because you want some support. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It is a positive step towards looking after yourself. Counselling Is One Part of Our Wider Support At Unmasked Mental Health, we understand that counselling isn't necessarily the right option for everyone. That's why we provide a range of services designed to support people in different ways. Alongside one-to-one counselling, we offer Group Peer Support Hubs, where adults can meet others in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The hubs are informal, facilitator-led spaces where you can talk if you want to or simply sit and listen. We also provide wellbeing activity groups and mental health workshops, giving people different ways to connect, learn and support their wellbeing. Our approach is simple: Find the support that works for you. You Don't Have to Face It Alone Talking about your mental health isn't always easy. You might have spent a long time keeping things to yourself or telling everyone that you're fine when you're not. Counselling can provide a space where you don't have to put on a mask. A space where you can be honest. A space where someone will listen. At Unmasked Mental Health, our goal is to help people feel supported at the point they need it and to remind them that they don't have to navigate difficult times alone. Take the First Step If you're considering counselling, you don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Whether you're experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, low mood or simply finding life difficult, our team can help you explore whether counselling or another form of support could be right for you. You don't have to struggle in silence. If you're ready to take that first step, get in touch with Unmasked Mental Health to find out more about our counselling service and how we can support you. Unmasked Mental Health Removing the stigma of mental health, one mask at a time. Because sometimes, the first step towards feeling better is simply having someone to talk to.

Mental health is something that affects us all. Whether we experience challenges ourselves or support a friend, family member, colleague or loved one, having access to the right support can make a life-changing difference. Fundraising for mental health is one of the most important ways you can help us continue our work. Why Is Mental Health Fundraising Important? Mental health services are needed now more than ever, and many people can find it difficult to access the support they need. As a community-focused mental health charity, fundraising enables us to continue providing valuable services and creating opportunities for people to talk about their mental health without fear of judgement. Every donation and every fundraising effort, no matter how big or small, helps us work towards our goal of ensuring that nobody has to struggle alone. From organising community events to taking on personal challenges, your fundraising can help support the work we do across our local communities. How Does Fundraising Support Unmasked Mental Health? Fundraising helps us continue developing and delivering services that support people's mental wellbeing. Our work includes free talking therapy hubs, community support, mental health awareness initiatives, events and opportunities for people to connect with others. By raising money for Unmasked Mental Health, you are helping us create welcoming spaces where people can take that first step towards talking about how they feel. For someone who may have been struggling in silence, having somewhere safe to go and someone to talk to can make an enormous difference. Ways to Fundraise for a Mental Health Charity You don't need to take on an extreme challenge to raise money for mental health. There are countless ways to get involved, whether you're fundraising on your own, with friends, as part of a community group or through your workplace. You could: 🏃 Take on a sponsored run, walk or fitness challenge 🚴 Organise a cycling challenge 🎯 Host a quiz or games night 🧁 Hold a bake sale 🎟️ Organise a raffle or fundraising event 🎉 Host a party or social gathering 💼 Arrange a workplace fundraising challenge 👥 Get your friends, family or colleagues involved 🎄 Organise a seasonal fundraising event 💡 Come up with your own unique fundraising idea The most important thing is to choose something that you enjoy. Your fundraiser doesn't have to be complicated — it just needs to make a difference. Fundraising Brings Communities Together One of the most wonderful things about charity fundraising is the way it brings people together. A fundraising event can provide much more than financial support. It can create opportunities for conversations, friendships and connections. Mental health can sometimes be difficult to talk about. Fundraising provides a positive way to start those conversations and help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. Whether you're taking on a challenge with your colleagues, organising a community event or getting friends together for a charity night, you're helping to create a culture where talking about mental health becomes easier. Mental Health Fundraising for Businesses Businesses can also play an important role in supporting mental health within their workplaces and local communities. Choosing Unmasked Mental Health as your charity partner or charity of the year can provide your team with meaningful opportunities to get involved. Businesses could organise fundraising challenges, hold charity events, encourage staff participation or support one of our fundraising campaigns. Supporting a local mental health charity can also demonstrate a genuine commitment to employee wellbeing and the wider community. When businesses and communities work together, we can create a bigger impact. Every Donation Can Make a Difference It can be easy to think that a small donation won't make much difference. But collectively, small donations can have a huge impact. Every pound raised helps us continue working towards our vision of creating communities where people feel comfortable talking about their mental health and know where they can turn for support. Behind every fundraiser is a person who may be struggling. A person who might need someone to listen. A person who might feel isolated. A person who simply needs to know that they aren't alone. Your fundraising can help us be there for them.
